HOUSTON - Students at Houston Lower Elementary School took a break from academics this fall for a school-sponsored "fun day" and a good time was had by all.
The staff sponsored the Fall Festival as a reward for the students hard work and effort during the first nine weeks of the semester.
"We'd just finished a lot of testing," said teacher Deanna Uhiren. "They had worked so hard, they deserved a treat."
HLES Principal Emily Speck said that the festival was a big hit with the students and staff.
"There were no academics for the whole day, but we all still learned a lot," Speck laughed.
The children were treated to games including a cake walk, tic-tac-toe, ring toss and a line dance.
