HOUSTON - Chickasaw County authorities are holding a Vardaman man in connection with the strong armed robbery of a Woodland convenience store yesterday morning.

Authorities say 41 year old Randy Anderson punched the clerk at Fant's Quick Stop, then ran from the store with the cash register. As he drove away, the store's owner fired one shot at Anderson, breaking the driver's side window.

Calhoun County and Vardaman law officers notified Chickasaw County of similarities in a robbery case in their area a few years back, leading to the arrest of Anderson last night. Authorities say he was released from prison three months ago.

Because he is currently on probation, he is being held without bond in the Chickasaw County Jail.
