CUMBERLAND - Ackerman found the end zone with 46-seconds left in the game to escape East Webster with a 14-12 victory after a bad snap on a last-second field goal attempt thwarted a comeback for the Wolverines.
East Webster (7-7, 1-4) led 12-6 with three ticks over eight minutes left in the game when Ackerman (14-0, 5-0) drove 84 yards on 15 plays to score on an 8-yard run by Shawn Stricklin to take the two-point edge.
The game-saving play came when Andrew Furr completed a 13-yard pass to John Cummings on a third-and-six play that kept the final drive alive for the Indians.
The Wolverines answered quickly by moving the ball to the Ackerman 27 yard line with to give Michael Graham a shot at a game-winning 42-yard field, but a high snap negated the last-second kick attempt and allowed time to expire on East Webster's late-game heroics.
Ackerman took a 6-0 lead when Cummings scored on a seven-yard run, but East Webster rallied to tie the game at 6-6 after an Indian fumble led to a four-yard scoring run by Timarkis Bell.
East Webster took a 12-6 lead when Ledrick Patterson sprinted down the sidelines 56-yards before pitching the ball to Demetrius O'Briant who sprinted to the end zone sending the Wolverine sideline into a frenzy.
The victory sends Ackerman to the Class 2A North State Championship game against West Bolivar (14-0, 5-0). The Eagles also dodged a scare by holding off a last-second rally of their own to pick up a 13-12 win over Baldwyn (7-6, 5-0).
The winner will advance to the Class 2A State Championship between the winner of the Bassfield (12-2) and Taylorsville (11-2) South Championship game.
