OKOLONA - On Nov. 5, 2009, Okolona celebrated its annual Christmas Open House.
Merchants, such as Okolona Drug Co., Turner's Flowers and Gifts and Reflections Boutique, participated on Main Street. The Okolona Electric Department was able to install the Christmas lights down Main Street just for this evenings event. The Downtown Park was decorated with a Christmas tree and lights in the arbor, illuminated bags lined the sidewalks, and Christmas music played on Main Street. Participating merchants offered special discounts, refreshments and entertainment in their businesses.
A cake walk was held in the Rockwell Auditorium, along with pictures made with Santa Claus. The Twentieth Century club sold their Christmas ornaments and bulbs for the Memory/Honor Tree.
It was so wonderful to see the streets filled with people talking and laughing and having such a great time!
This event was sponsored by the Okolona Area Chamber of Commerce, United Furniture, Bank of Okolona, Todd's Food Center, Okolona Drug Co., Reflections Boutique, Turner's Flowers and Gifts, and the City of Okolona.
Mrs. Debbie Corley was the chairperson for this event and did a great job!
Thanks to all the board members of the Chamber office who also lended a helping hand.
