Citizen input is being requested to assess the most relevant and important issues of Chickasaw County. Questionnaires and boxes are also available at BancorpSouth in Houston and Houlka, Bank of Okolona, Houston Banking Center, Grocer's Pride Supermarket, Sav-A-Lot and the Chickasaw Journal office.
Veteran's Day program planned across county
n Houston High School - Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. with guest speaker, the Hon. Judge Woodrow Brand addressing students, veterans and guests. Patriotic music will be performed by students and the Topper Pride band. Members of the HHS student government and FCA will assist veterans and host the program and Judge Woodrow Brand will be the guest speaker. The service will be held in the gymnasium with special seating for veterans.
n A parade will be held in Okolona on Nov. 11 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Veterans are invited to walk or ride the parade route and will be accompanied by OHS students. For information, call Alvin Thomas at 447-5922.
n Houlka will host a veteran's parade at 10 a.m. followed by a lunch in the Historic School. Veterans will meet at the Central Office building (Historic School) at 10 a.m. and will be served lunch at the site following the parade. For information, call Dr. Betsy Collums at 568-2704.
All veterans are invited and encouraged to participate in the program held in their honor.
n Renasant Bank in Okolona will honor veterans on Nov. 6 from 9-11 a.m., offering free coffee and donuts to all military veterans. The bank will be closed on Nov. 11 for a legal holiday. For information, contact Debbra Shelton at 447-3344.
