JACKSON - Three days of drug raids led by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics in 26 counties resulted in the arrest of 150 people, according to MBN Director Marshall Fisher.

Working with federal, county and city law enforcement officers Tuesday through Thursday, MBN arrested the suspected drug violators on arrest warrants and grand jury indictments.

Additional arrests are forthcoming in the six-month investigation code-named Operation Statewide Street Sweep, Director Fisher said.

Officers also seized 1,975 grams of crack and powder cocaine with a street value of approximately $35,000; 46,081 grams of marijuana with a street value of approximately $22,000; three ounces of liquid codeine with a street value of $150; 14 weapons and U.S. currency totaling $97,773.

"The goal of operations like this is to improve the quality of life in these communities by reducing street drug sales and the crimes they breed," Director Fisher said.

Officers made arrests in the following counties: Benton, Clay, Covington, DeSoto, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Hinds, Jefferson Davis, Jackson, Lamar, Lauderdale, Leake, Marion, Neshoba, Noxubee, Perry, Pike, Quitman, Sharkey, Simpson, Stone, Tate, Tunica and Walthall.
