Special to the Chickasaw Journal

The Chickasaw Journal hosted a community survey last fall and results have been tabulated to release to area readers. The survey, conducted Oct. 29 through Nov. 14, was placed in eight local businesses around Chickasaw County and 149 responses were received.

Survey questions requested reader input on economic conditions, educational facilities, health care, public safety issues, government services, housing, beautification and recreation and entertainment. 149 responses were received and the reader input is available now.

On page 7A of this edition, information by percentage of votes is published. The written comments from participants will be posted on line at chickasaw360.com.

Upcoming this spring, the staff of the Chickasaw Journal will publish articles and stories relating to the survey and the responses from the community.

"We want to thank our community members who participated in the survey," said Chickasaw Journal GM Lisa Voyles. "We think it is important to be aware of what our citizens are talking about and how they feel. As a community newspaper, one of our obligations and responsibilities is to keep abreast of our local attributes and deficiencies as we work together to make Chickasaw County the best it can be."
