Jan. 23

n Chickasaw County Men's Conference and Wild Game Supper will be held January 23-24, 2009 at Parkway Baptist Church in Houston. Hours are Friday from 6- 10 p.m. and Saturday from 5- 10 p.m. Supper begins at 6 p.m. Bring a dish if you like. Speakers include evangelists James Wright and Frank Vaughn and Pastor Dr. Daniel Heeringa.

Jan. 24

n Youth Revival at Crossroads Youth Center east of Houlka will be held Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. featuring guest speakers, Pastor Rick Pearson of Branson, Mo. and Bro. Rob Sevilla of Tupelo. All youth are welcome, individual or groups. Youth leaders are encouraged to come and bring their groups. For information, call 568-2403.

n Houston Outlaws Travel Baseball will be holding try-outs on Sat., Jan. 24 at 2:00 pm at the Houston Summer Baseball field. Any boys can tryout up to age 10. Cannot turn 11 before April 30th. Contact Trey Boyette for more information: 662-542-0901.

n The Houston High School basketball cheerleaders will sponsor a dance clinic on Sat., Jan. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon in the HHS gym. Girls ages three through sixth grade are welcome. $15 fee includes t-shirt and snack. Participants will dance at a high school basketball game later this season. n Houston Chapel Church in Houston, MS is having its Annual Usher Board Program on January 25, 2009 at 3 p.m. Rev. Gerard Valliant of Kyles Chapel M.B. Church in Vardaman, MS will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to attend. For more information, contact Ada Buchanan at 662-456-2310.

Jan. 30

n Women's Conference, "Living a Legacy of Love," will be held Friday, January 30, 2009 at 6 p.m. at Vardaman First Baptist Church in Vardaman, MS. Women of any age are invited to attend. Tickets are available through January 25 and cost $5. Tickets are available at: Bruce First Baptist Church (983-2218), Calhoun Baptist Association (628-6262), Parkway Baptist Church (456-2745), and Vardaman First Baptist Church (682-7662). A meal will be served at 6 p.m. Childcare will be provided for those who pre-register; contact Hope Waldrop at 662-628-1891 by Jan. 25 if you plan to use.

Jan. 31

n The annual Houston High School Alumni baseball game will be held Jan. 31 with a home run derby kicking things off at 1 p.m. $10 fee to compete in the home run derby. $20 fee for the game that begins at 2 p.m. For information, contact John Ellison or any member of the HHS Diamond Club.

n Southern Gospel Jubilee will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009 in Eupora, MS at the Woodmen of the World Lodge, located at the intersection of Hwy 182 and Hwy 82. Food and refreshments start at 5 p.m. Singing begins at 6 p.m. and will end around 9 p.m. Performers include Joyful Noise, New Destiny, and Scott Gregory, along with other soloists. A love offering will be taken.

Feb. 3

n The third annual Topper baseball Leadoff Banquet will be held Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center on Starkville Road.

n Tickets are on sale for $20 from any Diamond Club member. Dinner will be followed by a silent auction. Guest speaker will be John Cohen, head baseball coach at Mississippi State University.

Feb. 6

n A benefit for Denise Mathis Hollimon to help her family Marty, Laken, and Devin with funeral expenses will be held February 7, 2009 from 4 p.m. until at the Houlka Community Center in Houlka, MS. A Gospel Singing will begin at 4 p.m., BBQ plates will be sold for $6, and an auction will occur at 6 p.m. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Feb. 7

Feb. 15

n Unity Temple C.O.G.I.C. will be hosting a Black History Program on February 15, 2009 at 3 p.m. Minister Gerald Valliant of Kyles Chapel M.B. Church will be the guest speaker. It is requested that everyone dress accordingly to this occasion. Dinner will be served immediately after service.
