It's already the middle of the first month of the new year. Time sure does go fast. I'm not sure how you feel but I'm happy to put 2008 behind me. Of course there were some good things that happened in 2008. Somehow, all the bad things seem to be the ones that stay in people's minds. Many of us lost loved ones this past year, the economy didn't help anyone, some lost jobs, and prices were high on everything. But it's a new year and things will get better

It will certainly be a historical year. Whether you are happy about it or not, we have a new President that could only be elected because we live in a country where we can vote for anyone we feel will do the best job. I do not like to discuss politics (or religion) and it was a struggle getting through the election. I've often threatened that I would quit voting because usually whomever I vote for doesn't get elected. Of course that won't happen, I will still vote in every election because I live in a country where I can vote. Everyone has a right to vote. We live in a country where everyone has a right to vote, voice their opinions, practice their religion and everyone should be able to feel safe with their opinions and beliefs.

We voted and we have to accept who is elected, whether you voted for him or not, he deserves everyone's respect, support and prayers to lead our country.

When asked my resolutions for the year I didn't have an answer. I don't do the resolution 'thing'. Since then, I came up with a couple - I'll try to be more organized. I'm actually sort of organized - it's just always an organized mess. I'm also going to try to remember to eat more often. I tend to just eat when I'm hungry. That doesn't work too well when you only get hungry when thinking about a greasy burger or a Milwaukee pizza and know you can't have one at that moment. But, I'm going to try to eat breakfast every day and maybe lunch or dinner, too, even if I have to cook more often. I'll also try to exercise. So if you see me out of breath walking somewhere, please don't laugh too hard.

I have more hopes for 2009 than I have resolutions. I hope 2009 brings some relief to all that are struggling. I hope there are jobs for those looking for them. I hope that gas does not go up to the $4.11 a gallon that is predicted.

I hope that everyone has a healthy, happy and safe new year.

Please pray for our new President as he is inaugurated and throughout his service to our country.

Best wishes for all in 2009.
