MANTEE - The Webster County Sheriff's Dept. is looking for vandals who removed several road signs in the northern part of the county. According to Deputy Devin Mixon, about five signs were removed from the highway between Mantee and the Dancy community and two mailboxes were damaged.

"Apparently they took a chain and hooked it up to the signs and jerked them out of the ground," Mixon said. "There were speed limit signs, stop signs and a Natchez Trace sign."

The vandals struck last Sunday night or early Monday morning. A resident reported the incident when he heard his own mailbox being damaged.

"I got the call at 2:06 a.m.," Mixon said.

Anyone with information on the vandalism can call the Webster CSO at 258-7701.
