HOUSTON – An evening of entertainment will be featured on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Houston. Classically trained pianist, Dr. Noel Garcia, will be joined by friends and colleagues to entertain guests with piano and vocal selections leading to a special finale.

Garcia will play selections by Debussy, Chopin and Schumann and will be joined by Houston’s Molly May to accompany her in a vocal rendition of “Greensleeves.”

Garcia will also accompany Dr. Leonil Gan Lim who will make his public singing debut with the Nat King Cole classic, “Too Young,” and “If I Should Ever Love Again.”

Sister Pat Hinton will perform the “Ave Maria.”

Garcia will partner with Houston High School senior, Robert Morgan, for a performance of Strauss’ “Concerto in E-flat Major.”

The finale of the musicale will feature 12 members of the Topper Pride band joining Garcia in a rendition of “March Military,” by Franz Schubert.

“It’s beautiful band music,” Garcia said. “The first pieces are impressionistic and romantic. We have so many problems to day. We need to reflect and relax.”

Joining Garcia from the HHS band will be Jessica Earry, Ashley Anderson, Mihaly Harisis, Samantha Crawford, James Floyd, Caroline Sullivan, Jacob Moore, Megan Barnett, Alex Torres, Kevin Dao, Matthew Munlin and Robert Morgan.

Following the performance, guests will be treated to a reception of light refreshments catered by Mrs. Elaine Trenor.

“This is the first kind of concert like this in our area,” Garcia said. “I wanted to do this and bring more cultural stuff into town.”

Tickets to the concert are $15 and are available at Dr. Teena Horn's office and the Catholic Parish Center. For information, call 456-3396 after five and weekends, or 456-9992, 456-5650 or 628-6811.
