HOUSTON - The Chickasaw County Historical Society is planning an early spring farm equipment exhibition to coincide with spring planting and the 2010 Spring Flywheel Festival.

This exhibition will feature horse and mule drawn farm implements reflective of the county's agricultural heritage. Preparations are underway now to collect old farm equipment and related items, such as harnesses, tack and pulling equipment. Anyone with pictures of family member with or farming with horses and mules would be welcome to contact the society to be included in a pictorial display during the exhibition.

During November and December, members of the society are putting together an inventory of items that may be used for a permanent display.

The Chickasaw County Historical Society would like to acknowledge the contributions of several large pieces of horse or mule pulled farm implements for their planned 2010 spring farm implement exhibition. Mr. Guy Williams, former Okolona resident and an avid collector of old and primitive farm implements donated from his collection a Moline cultivator, fertilizer spreader, a John Deere sickle mower, and a John Deere stalk cutter.

For information about the display, contact Joe Criddle at 456-5434, James E. Clark at 456-5255 or Larry Davis at 456-9787.
